Statoil Aiming High: North America—a Cornerstone in Statoil’s 2020 Ambition

The Scandinavian American Business Forum presents: Helge Hove Haldorsen, VP Strategy & Portfolio Statoil Development and Production North America.

Statoil is an international energy company with over 35 years of experience on the Norwegian continental shelf. Today the company has operations worldwide. Through a cooperation with Chesapeake Energy Corp, Statoil has acquired the position as one of the largest lease holders in the Marcellus Shale.

Mr. Haldorsen has an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim and a PhD in Reservoir Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Haldorsen held various positions with Esso Exploration Norway, Sohio Petroleum Co San Francisco and BP in London prior to joining Hydro in 1987. He served as the President of Hydro Gulf of Mexico until the merger with Statoil in 2007. He is the author of numerous technical papers and articles and has been a Professor of Industrial Mathematics at the University of Oslo as well as a lecturer at Stanford University.
